I can identify with how you are feeling. I had a girlfriend once who, under pressure from a "sister" she was studying with, broke up with me. Apparently from this "sister's" point of view the two of us were not ready or old enough to consider marriage. I think I was 16 or 17 at the time and I was devastated. I truly did love this girl. After some time apart we did eventually get back together but I had changed from the experience and ultimately we went our separate paths.
I’m sorry to hear that your fiancé has broken your engagement off. Hopefully you can use this time to discover who you really are as a person outside of this destructive cult. You can find much support here.

Another Newbie
by FadingAway ini've been reading this forum for a while and i felt it was time to post my experience.
i am very comforted when i read others experiences and how similar they are to mine, i don't feel alone.. anyway, i learned the truth in 97, got baptized in 98. all of sudden i was getting prvileges, parts on the ca and dc and had friends that seemed to care about me and i cared for them.
eventually the love started to cool off, the meetings felt like watching reruns of a bland tv show.

They made another run at me.
by kilroy2 ini was watching law and order last night at 10pm when the door bell rung.
i was in my red long underwear and jumped up to put on my jeans went down stairs to answer the door, i always turn on the light and look thought the peeper to make sure charlie manson is not knocking, no manson but two of my local elders from the hall.
i have not had any one from the hall take a run at me for at least a couple of years.

I would have asked them to return between the hours of 6:00 am and 5:00 pm on Monday through Friday and I'd be more than happy to talk to them. The problem is that I work during those hours.....Darn!

i feel so awkward stumbling over the words "merry christmas" to friends.

The (ex) JW that my daughter dated gave her a Christmas present...she was so impressed, he used comic pages paper to wrap it in. I bet he was not able to cross that line in his mind into the Christmas paper thing...this gave him a way out of having to use paper with Santas or Greetings all over it.
Thats not it at all! I did this once before also. It's one of two things: A) He's too cheap to buy wrapping paper of B) He's not used to giving gifts and didn't even think about wrapping paper until it was too late.
In my situation it was more of the type A scenario than B but I justified it by reasoning that comic paper would be "cute" and humorous. Bottom line is, I was being a cheap bastard. But that was me at that time. LOL.

Well, I should add that I’m not entirely Christmas retarded because my wife has made about 15 batches of 10 different types of cookies and I’ve had no problem that that.

This is probably my sixth or seventh Christmas so far. I've been away from the borg for much longer but only started celebrating Christmas after getting involved with my then girlfriend now wife. It's still a very awkward time for me. We used to buy gifts for all immediate family, parents, siblings, grand parents, great grand parents and a select few aunts and uncles. We decided to tell everyone not to buy for us because we’re not buying for them. It’s very easy to run yourself into debt this time of year and we didn’t want any part of that. So now we just buy for our kids.
But, yeah, I’m defiantly Christmas retarded. I still won’t say merry Christmas to someone even after they say it to me first. I always sheepishly reply “you too”.
